White Oak

The concept for this restaurant is an exploration of the relationship between the wide, lateral canopy of the White Oak & the complex, far-reaching root structure.

The concept of the Oak Tree readily lent itself to three distinct partis: The Leaf & The Tree being the two extremes, micro & macro, of the structure of the tree, and The Branch being the synthesis of the two using the circulation within the restaurant to act as the means of conveyance from the roots/kitchen to the leaves/dining areas. The Branch offers a greater variety of size, shape, and type of space regarding how the pieces of the puzzle can fit together.
